Discover Lake Como from a very local point of view, at My Home in Como we have partnered with WaW, two experienced local Park Guides that can guide you and your family through the beautiful Spina Verde Park on the mountains around Como, on the border with Switzerland.The Spina Verde Natural Park is an area extended on 1100 hectares rich in beautiful natural areas and with plenty of faunistic and botanical species. perfect for a walk in every season!
Within the park there are Historical sites ranging from the 3000 year-old rock carvings, to the incredible tunnels and trenches of the First World War, the very landmark of this green area is the Baradello castle (Castello Baradello) with its tower offering a 360-degree views on Lake Como.
When you walk through the Park, you encounter tracks and places related to smuggling, in a park that, still today, inextricably links to the fact of being a border land between Italy and Switzerland.

These guided tours are simple guided walks in the wood od a Park richi in history and nature, with incredible views on the city of Como and its beautiful lake.
Your guides are naturalists and passionate hikers and they are official Spina Verde Guides, Anna Bocchietti and Fiamma Salvioni are both born in Como and they know the Park insideout. Here are a few of the suggested guided walks, these are fairly easy hikes and they do not require great hiking skills, still, it is mandatory to wear anti-slip walking shoes.

THE BARADELLO CASTLE
Historical walk in the nature of the park with incredible views of Como and its lake.
An easy walk through the forest of the park, a guided tour of the historic quarry of sandstone and of the Baradello Castle.
Its tower, with spectacular 360 degree views, is a symbol of the city of Como and preserves a precious museum with findings dating back to the ancient Romans.

Itinerary lenght: about 4 Km (2,5 M)
THE BLUE WAY (outside the Park)
An amazing and unusual walk in the nature of the Como lake, through small and typical villages, olive groves and incredible views. This tour takes place every Saturday morning.
Leaving from Como by boat, in about 20 minutes, we will reach the start of our path.
The tour is an amazing and unusual walk in the nature, through small and typical villages populated by simple and friendly people; surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation it offers incredible views over Lake Como and its green mountains.

Uphill height difference/climb: about 200 m (700 ft)

A SURPRISING PARK
A curious tour through tunnels and trenches of the great war, with one foot in Italy and the other one in Switzerland, to the highest point of the park, with an incredible view on Como and its lake.
A historical-naturalistic walk in the wood of the park,following the boundary stones, one foot in Italy and the other one in Switzerland.
Looking for the signs of a time which strongly marked the places and the local population, we will tell stories of smuggling, that we have personally lived or heard from the witness of that time.
On our path we will find the incredible trenches and tunnels of the World War I, perfectly preserved and recently restored.
The final destination of the tour is the highest point of the Park, the Pin Umbrela, unmissable panoramic balcony overlooking Como and its lake.
